After playing in several successful Youngstown bands, 17 year old guitar prodigy Phil Keaggy put together Glass Harp in 1968 with drummer John Sferra and bassist Steve Markulin. Within a year the trio was sharing bills with the James Gang and Grand Funk. In early 1969 they entered United Audio to record an album’s worth of music. They self-released this 45 at the time, but the rest of the songs were never released.

Their reputation and clear talent did land them a three album deal with Decca, though by that point Markulin had left to join his cousin in The Human Beinz. But these never before released Youngstown recordings show the earlier, more psyched-out, bluesy, scrappier, and deeply Beatles-obsessed trio as they first formed before becoming the Christian-rock pioneers of the 70’s.
