In 1973 John Grazier put together Chapter II as an all-star band of Youngstown’s heaviest players. Though they’re not household names (unless you already own Peppermint Presents…RAT RACE!), Holy Mackerel, Mana, Climax, The Citations, Flagg were some of the top bands in the area in the early 70’s. Band members Terry Davis, Ross Locke, Randy Elliot, Joe Kluchar, Bill Ahlswede, and Ralph Lallama were the best of the best (Ralph Lallama is still one of New York City’s go-to bari sax players). Producer John Grazier was also at a creative peak at the time, working with Blue Ash virtually non-stop, and writing these tunes as well. Super groups like Chapter II just prove once again what a deep well the Youngstown music scene was during Peppermint’s early days.
